I’m heading off to the South By SouthWest conference in Austin, TX, specifically the interactive part of this fun event. You can get more information about SXSW at their official website – but basically, it’s a great chance to meet a ton of people and learn more about social media and other online general ‘cool stuff’. SXSW starts..well, I don’t think there’s an actual ‘start date’, as random activities have been going on since Wednesday, but I will be there from Friday until Monday.
Don’t get too excited – while Nokia will be there, we’re not expecting any new product announcements or anything like that. Instead, I’ll have a chance to chat with Nokians, as well as folks from mobile-oriented services and applications to learn more about their various services and hopefully provide a bit of feedback. I’ll be taking the Nokia N79 and Nokia E71 along for the ride, with the E63 acting as a backup to the E71 (and something to hold the spare battery while it recharges).
You can follow the action in a number of places. First up, my personal Twitter account (@rcadden) will be buzzing, so you can keep up there. There will also be sporadic updates to the Symbian-Guru Twitter account (@symbianguru), but I’ll try not to pollute both with constant SXSW updates. I will also be using Qik on the E71/N79, tied in with my Share on Ovi account (thanks to this new feature), and will be uploading photos and videos to this Share on Ovi channel.
Dotsisx and Gorilla (more on him soon) will be handling the weekend updates, and I’ll have some thoughts and other coverage of SXSW when I get back.
