The Nokia Beta Labs have introduced another application specifically for S60v5 smartphones, such as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic or the upcoming Nokia N97, called Nokia Photo Browser. This glorified gallery application is designed to be incredibly easy to use, and to add some fun to your photos. With Nokia Photo Browser, you can scroll through your photos, regardless of how many you have, with ease, simply by flicking your finger across the screen.
You can also use the cool magnifying glass feature to zoom in on portions of your photos, to get a better look. The best feature, though, in my opinion, is that the application includes facial recognition. For instance, if you have a photograph with several faces in it, you can zoom in on one face, and then swipe your finger across the photo to scroll to the next face, and the next, and so on. Definitely really sweet stuff here.
Nokia hasn’t said anything about whether they intend to integrate this application into the firmware of their touchscreen-equipped smartphones, but I have to say, I hope they do! I’m glad to see Nokia working on different ways to make browsing your content easier, as that’s one area where S60 has struggled over the years, without a doubt.
You can pick up the application over at the Nokia Beta Labs, and be sure to join in on the forums there if you have any feedback for the developers. Here’s a video of the application in action, with my friend Charlie Schick hosting:
