I work in this industry and Nokia need to make this happen very soon. Nokia has made some questionable judgements of late. I’am not a big fan of there new touch screen symbian (that does now have a facebook app) E63 and E71 are nokia’s best phones at the moment.

I just switched back to a nokia (on it now)after a rather long relationship with samsung and then HTC. Both win mobile devices. I must say the s60 os is rather refreshing as it functions much better then wm6.1 but the lack of 3rd party apps is kinda a bummer.

well it seems like nokia are actually doing something to encourage 3rd party developers to solve problems like this with their ( not quite so recent ) take over of trolltech and the Qt framework. But i’m a Qt developer and they still haven’t made the simbian platform atractive to develop for! And also the fact that they have only recently made a big deal out of the ovi store is poor! How many years are they behind the apple app store? *sigh* … Ps. This post comes from a nokia E75

I’ve been waiting for a facebook app for my phone for quite some time now. Back in the days we used to have SO much stuff available for our s60 phones but other platforms have left symbian in the dust now. I hope Nokia has some tricks in their bag to make it work again or my next phone is going to be WinMo powered. Sorry Nokia, I wish you could have been better.

    Halo Ricky…

FYI, there’s a Facebook Application called “Mobinity Moby Friends” released in Indonesia for Symbian S60 phones like E61i, E63, E71, and others Symbian supported Nokia. The application is pretty complete, with the integration its Profile and Birthday calender to Nokia Contacts book and Calendar. Furthermore, this Mobinity support newsfeed like new status, pics upload, write to walls, Inbox messages, and wall comments. Another capabilites which I think is the most valuable from this Application is that it can Upload Pics from both galleries (phones memory card) and from cameraphone, and you can even tag (YES, TAGGING) friends in your uploaded pics. You can check it at http://www.mobinity.net/features.html Well, it’s in Indonesian, you may translate the site with google translate. I don’t know if user outside Indonesia can use it, because Mobinity limited to carriers in Indonesia only. But please check the application, you can just download it from the site ! Thanks…

a snap reviews from the site with help from google translate :

    1. mobiFriends
Facebook mobiFriends is a sophisticated application which besides providing basic facilities such as additions Facebook Status, Send Message, Write Wall, Send Comments, etc. View photo.

Also the ability to upload photos directly from camera phones, Save photo from Facebook and Facebook the ability to sync Contact photos on the phone, so when a friend calls, his photos on Facebook will appear as the Caller Image

Birthday all my friends in Facebook can also be automatically copied to the Calendar on the phone, so you will not forget again to congratulate my friends who had birthdays.

I tried it but it’s not free. Nor is there a one time license that you can buy. There seem to be some small subscriptions. Is there no other way!!??

have come across this third-party app Socially (http://www.sociallyapp.com) for Facebook on Nokia phones. It syncs photos and birthdays with the phone's contacts and calendar and also shows the friend's latest status update when the friend calls you on your phone. What's more, it also shows periodic alerts on the phone desktop screen. Given that it is free too, my money is on it :)
