As we know the Nokia Eseries phones have data encryption for files, email and SMS, something which Nseries users have been left out of, though this is luckily no longer the case. Alie Tan, the person who brought us useful tools such as Active File, a free file manager like Y-browser, announced last week a new tool called Active SMS Lock. This sweet application is fully signed and totally free of charge.
What this application does is password protects your SMS inbox as well as the SMS outbox. This is very efficient against prying eyes or if you lend your phone to a friend for a while. Now you no longer need to be afraid of your girlfriend seeing messages from your lovers. Oh, the convenience of technology. Note that Active SMS Lock still won’t take away any suspicion that your girlfriend might have against you, so don’t blame me if that should happen.
Once installed, Active SMS Lock protects your messages by either hiding them or protecting them with a password. To view password protected messages you have to enter the correct pin. The default pin code is set to 12345 at default (a well known number sequence in the Nokia world). Currently the software is available for non-touch S60 phones, which means that the 5800 Xpress Music is left out.
