Forum Nokia is working hard to interact with mobile developers, specifically with its Calling All Innovators contests. Last years’ contest had some awesome entries, including GreenPhone, from MojosMobile, the developers of Twittix, which is now available in the Symbian-Guru Software Store. Continuing this, the details of the Calling All Innovators contest for 2009 have been announced, so developers can get to working on their applications.
For 2009, the Calling All Innovators contest has three categories: Internet Innovation, Flash, and Emerging Markets and Mobile Necessities. Winners will receive top placement in Nokia’s Ovi Store, which should be launched in May, and will received a paid trip to a Nokia-specified event to showcase their application. Entrants in the Flash category are also vying for an additional USD$10000 from the Open Screen Project Fund.
If you’re a developer, you have until June 30, 2009 to submit your application through the contest website. Finalists will be announced on August 17, and winners will be announced at Nokia World in September.
Also, the 24-hour Hack-a-thon from the Nokia N97 Widget Competition has gotten a bit more interesting! Four of the top ten finalists were invited to attend the Hack-a-thon, to work side-by-side with the developer who will be building their creation. The event takes place at the 2009 Forum Nokia Developer’s Summit in Monaco on April 28-29, and we’ll have live video interviews and coverage of the event, as well.
Congrats to David Emmanuel Casto Guerrero, Marco Lobb, Eric Liu, and Andrew Clarke for this sweet opportunity!
