The people behind Nimbuzz recently had a poll on which mobile phone they should support next. Out of the four phones in the poll, the Blackberry Storm, the Blackberry Bold, 5800 XpressMusic and the Omnia HD, the 5800 XpressMusic came out as the clear winner, which is definitely encouraging! As such, the team is working to bring support for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and other S60v5 touchscreen smartphones, such as the N97, to its IM application. Currently they need beta testers for the 5800, so if you own one send them an email to sign up. The beta sign up closes on April 7th.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Nimbuzz, it is an application that supports a variety of IM protocols such as MSN, Gtalk and Yahoo Talk. VOIP services such as Skype and Gizmo, and sharing of location with your friends are also supported. Another interesting feature is that you can send your friends a “Buzz” that will start the Nimbuzz application on their handset, definitely a cool ability.
