If there was any doubt that the Nokia E63 could be one of the most affordable S60-powered smartphones ever, it’s gone now. Amazon has dropped the price of the Blue Nokia E63 NAM to US$243, with free shipping for Amazon Prime members. This is for the unlocked unbranded variant, with dual-band 3G (850/1900MHz) support for either AT&T or Rogers’ networks.
The Nokia E63 is basically a fatter, less featured version of the Nokia E71. However, it’s not all bad. You get a much cheaper phone, and a few nice extras, as well, such as a built-in flashlight feature (that I’ve already used a few times on my E63), as well as a standard 3.5mm audio port. The E63 maintains the same features as the E71, except it lacks the built-in GPS (Google Maps Mobile works fine, though) and the camera was reduced to a 2 megapixel (not that anyone bought the E71 for its camera, anyways). Also, the 3G on the E63 is *slightly* slower, as it’s only UMTS, and not HSDPA.
