Nokia’s lack of flagship stores in the United States hasn’t stopped its passionate S60 fans from holding their own meetups, and since it all started in New York, there are now three meetups scheduled for April! If you’re an S60 User in New York City, Chicago, or Dallas, you can get in on the fun. Below are the details of the events, and I’ve added all three to the Symbian-Guru Events Calendar here.
First up is Chicago, taking place on April 18th, at 2pm at the Flagship Store on Michigan Ave. I’m sure they’ll have some of the latest phones there at the Flagship store to geek out over, and then who knows what. You can follow up with this one on Upcoming.org or on Facebook.
Second, the one that started it all is New York City. This group is getting bigger with every meetup, and usually starts out at the Flagship store on 57th street. This one is on April 24th, and starts at 6:30pm. They’re usually able to get some of the latest handsets at the store, and then after geeking out for a bit, head out into the night for some drinks. You can get more information on Upcoming.org
Next up, on the same night, is Dallas/Fort Worth’s inaugural meetup, on April 24th at 7pm. Since we don’t have a Flagship store, we’ll be meeting at 7pm at Humperdinks in Arlington, at 700 Six Flags Dr. Unfortunately, for this one, none of our friends from Nokia Dallas were able to make it, but they’ve promised to try to attend the next one, so we’ll have some fun phones to geek out over. However, The Guru will be there, and I’ll be packing the 5800 XpressMusic, N79, and E75, if anyone wants to give those a play. Check in at Upcoming.org
You can keep up with the S60 Users meetups at S60users.com, or you can keep track of the Symbian-Guru Events Calendar on Google. If you live in another city, and want to organize your own meetup, let us know and we’ll get the word out.
For those wondering what we do at these meetups, it’s pretty simple. We meet up, and geek out over whatever S60 phones we have present, talk about apps, etc. If you’re new to S60, there’s plenty that the ‘old-timers’ can help you figure out, as well. It’s a great time, so we’d definitely like to see you out there.
