Back in November we brought you the news about SymSMB which was an application that offered you to share your files and folders between a computer and your mobile handset as well as streaming music directly from your computer. SymSMB was later acquired by Nokia and we haven’t heard much of it since.
Telexy, the company which was behind that application, has a new application called SymSync and it gives you the ability to synchronize files and folders between your mobile and your computer. You can set up manual or automatic synchronization as well as having the application run in the background or as a service.
A typical scenario this application can be used for is that you have documents you work on, and you want to access them while on the go. With SymSync you don’t need to connect your phone to your pc via bluetooth or cable and then send them over. Just share the folder or the files and they’re automatically synchronized with your phone. You can also simply use it to get the latest songs from your computer to your phone.
As with other utilities this application supports S60 phones from 3rd edition up to 5th edition in addition to different languages. Combine it with their other product SymVPN and you have encrypted access to your files and folders. SymSync is priced at €10.00 on the Telexy site (converts to 12.90$), but you can buy it for 11.95$ from the Symbian-Guru store. A free trial is available so you can enjoy the application before deciding if it’s worth your money.
