I got an email from the staffs at WidSets telling me great news. The email said that the WidSets service would be integrated into the upcoming OVI Store. Furthermore it stated that the OVI Store would be the “one-stop, global shop for widgets, mobile apps, games, videos and so much more.”
Great, I thought to myself before I read that my WidSets account would no longer be available from June 1st. What? As a daily WidSet user I get some of my daily dose of mobile news via those small widgets inside Widsets and when I find something interesting I bookmark it so I can have access to them later. It acts as the online bookmark system I use on my mobile phone. Now they’ve decided that this service is no longer available and that is good news? After having “transferred” my 30 or 40 bookmarks into my browser I was finally ready to move on.
I do appreciate the migration of everything to the OVI Store, but having your account deleted while you have a lot of things there is a bit drastic in my opinion. Besides we still don’t know much of what the new Ovi Store service will be like. Even if they should include the WidSets service into the Nokia account, previous experiences regarding Share on OVI have proven to be not fully safe-proof, where things essentially got lost. The bad thing is that the link they provided to the OVI Store, just shows a webpage with “Coming Soon”: not exactly good advertisement.
Do you use Widsets as frequently as I do? If so, do you think that the service is lost forever or will it be revamped to a better experience?
