Nearly a year after the Nokia E71 was announced, AT&T has finally gotten their stuff together and launched the E71x, with units actually in store, ready to go home with you. The E71x is actually slightly different than the regular E71, with a new all-black color scheme and the addition of S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, as opposed to Feature Pack 1 on the original unit.
The Nokia E71x is priced at $99, after a 2-year commitment and $100 mail-in rebate. The rebate requires that you also sign up for a MediaNet package, with unlimited coming in at $30/month. This is twice as much as owners of the unbranded E71 pay, and is a direct result of AT&T’s greed. Nonetheless, if you couldn’t stomach the $320 for the unbranded unit, you now have a bit more of an affordable choice. QWERTY on.
