The biggest surprise I faced with the Nokia E75 wasn’t the form factor, nor N-Gage, nor the battery life, nor Nokia Messaging… I expected all of these, what I didn’t expect is for the camera to be THAT good compared to the silly so-called camera on the E71 that delivers purple blurry grainy images, knowing that both of them have a 3.2MP sensor with one LED flash, and no special Carl Zeiss optics.
In order to make my point clear, I took some images with the E75 and the E71, simultaneously, outdoors in well lit conditions. The last image is taken indoors at night, in pitch darkness. Here they are for your viewing and comparison pleasure. I think I really don’t need to say which picture was taken by which device, do I? It’s so incredibly easy to guess. I need to note though that my E71 was still running the firmware v200.21.118 when I shot these images: I’ve been told that the camera performance was improved with the latest firmware, but I haven’t updated yet so I can’t tell for sure. Below you will see a video shot with both the E71 and the E75 in pitch darkness. The E75 records video on a resolution of 640 x 480 with a 30fps frame rate, which is Nseries-like, whereas the E71 is stuck with the old 320 x 240 resolution on 15fps frame rates. Another difference to note is that the E75 has one LED flash that can be activated while recording videos and hence used as a video light: its efficiency is most noticeable under a 1meter distance between the device and the subject being filmed. Also notice the voice quality between both videos, I *think* the lower voice volume on the E75 is due to the microphone placement that makes you cover it with your hand when you’re recording.
Note: before embedding the video, I want to make it clear that any Pooh jokes or any comments regarding the look on my face are prohibited, forbidden, illegal… Now go ahead, watch:

Let’s see, do you agree with me? Do you think the E75′s camera output quality is a huge step forward compared to the E71′s camera? How would you explain the voice volume difference?
