After reading our post this morning, Nokia must have felt bad for the N85, because they went ahead and released a new firmware for this dual-slider that brings the coveted homescreen email integration. The new firmware, v20.175, brings a host of new features, the most important, of course, being notification of new email right there on the Active Standby. The new firmware is available OTA, by pressing *#0000#, then choosing Options – Check for Updates.
Unfortunately, at this time, it looks like NAM folks will have to wait, as not even the N96 NAM has gotten this new firmware, much less the N85 NAM. The N79′s firmware is apparently coming really soon, as well, according to P@sco, with a full changelog available here.
As normal, while the N85 features UDP (User Data Preservation), we recommend that you back up any critical data before you apply any firmware update, just in case.
