I’m currently using AI Roboform to take care of my passwords on my computer and Epocware’s Handy Safe to do the same for my mobile. AI Roboform integrates nicely to Firefox, as well as Internet Explorer, but has no sync option and their free Symbian client is next to useless. Using Handy Safe, it has sync options between mobile and computer, but has no integration to my browsers. I therefore have to manually update my passwords each time a new entry is added in my Roboform and end up getting less done and maintaining this. Hence I decided to give Spb Wallet a run down.
First impressions
SPB is one of our sponsors and this application is a manager for all your different website logins as well as other things you want to store in the application. It has a variety of templates covering most of the uses you can think of, naming a few includes different credit cards, driver’s license, subscriptions and so on. Upon start of the PC client, you are asked to either create a new wallet or open an existing one, as well as sync the ones you have. I’ve not created one yet, so I’ll choose create a new one. You are then asked to browse to a destination on your computer to save the file and name it. You can also do the same from your phone. When prompted to enter a password your password is measured to see of it is a secure one, a nice feature to make the user aware of security in password choices. Upon start you are taken into the main screen with a nice walkthrough and explanation of the application under the folder ‘About SPB Wallet’.
In use

The PC client is the “headquarters” and offers a more extended view as well as a bit more of what you can do. However most of the functions are available on the phone application itself. Creating new cards is very simple and you just choose from very nice sets of default templates. Should you however be bored or not find the templates you are looking for you can easily use the online templates gallery or the PC client or the “templates gallery” on the phone to access more templates and download them. This is really a functionality I like as it styles up the information and you can easily see what kind of cards and info you are looking on. This option can be turned of and the information will then be displayed as a list. One of the really cool features is that when you highlight a phone number and then press the center D-pad it will prompt you to either perform a phone call, send SMS or MMS, really practical and convenient. On links it will ask you if you want to go to website and thereafter opens up your browser.
Pressing the left softkey brings you the different options such as new, edit, search, tools, help and exit. Choosing new let’s you create a new card, a folder or even a new wallet which means that you can have several wallets on one handset. This is really useful in my opinion if you want to have a separate wallet for jobs and private uses or if you share a phone regularly with someone in your family. Tools takes you to the various templates as well as online templates which is accessed by choosing ‘Templates gallery’, here you have the option to configure the application further, change the password and access to a really useful password generator.

There is only one particular feature I couldn’t find on the phone application that is available in the PC client which is also very understandable. That is the import feature which can import the profiles from other applications and as a lucky user I’m able to import my Handy Safe cards directly into this application.
Final thoughts
The application is in overall very simply to use and offers an application suite of great value, integrating with your browsers with option to fill in forms, making it extremely easy to collect and fill out those logins. Nice features such as displaying results immediately when typing things in the search fields and automatically login after entering the correct passwords simply can’t be justified by any screenshots. The application is available free as a trial from the Symbian-guru store or for buy at $ 29.95 (with 15% off) so check it out and see for yourself if it really is that great. Comments are as always welcomed.
