The Facebook application that we’ve seen demo’d on the Nokia N97 countless times is finally available through the Ovi Store, but only for touchscreen phones such as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I tried to find the application while I had the Nokia N79 selected as my device, and the application did not show up, which is unfortunate.
If you have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, you can click to download Facebook for S60 here. You can also open the Ovi Store on your phone and simply search for Facebook to get to the application. It’s been reported that the Samsung i8910 OmniaHD works with the Ovi Store, but I cannot confirm if this Facebook application works on that smartphone quite yet.
Let’s hope that this application becomes available for non-touchscreen phones such as my Nokia N79 or the Nokia E63 soon, as well.
Update: You’ll quickly find that this is quite a comprehensive application. You can upload photos either by taking them right there or choosing from your gallery. When you upload, you can even add a tag in the photo (just like on the desktop Facebook) and you can choose which Album it goes into. Very nicely done, Nokia.
