Showing more love to us Symbian fanboys and girls, Google, today, launched the Google Mobile App for S60-powered smartphones. This is a single download that allows you to quickly search a number of Google services straight from your phone – without having to launch your phone’s web browser. The application uses the quick key type launcher that we’ve seen on the Google Search application previously to open up a search box.
In that search box, you can begin typing to get real-time suggestions as to popular search terms – thereby possibly making it even faster to find things. In addition to the quick search ability, Google Mobile App for S60 is able to use the My Location feature from Google Maps Mobile to determine your current physical location and deliver relevant search results. This means a search for Wal-Mart will show listings for stores in your area, rather than stores around the country. You can toggle this on/off in the settings, though, if you wish.
The application also keeps track of your search history, so you can quickly repeat a search without having to re-enter the keywords over and again, which is definitely helpful.
Google Mobile App for S60 is available directly from http://m.Google.com today.
UPDATE: It’s definitely a native SISX application, but unfortunately reader @SloanB reports that it doesn’t seem to appear for S60v5 devices like the 5800 XpressMusic. Boo.
Here are some screenshots from my Nokia N79:

Also, if you press up, you can scroll across the icons on the top. The ones that you have installed to your phone (Gmail, Google Maps Mobile, YouTube) will launch that application. If you click the ‘More’ link, you’re presented with the screen below, allowing one-click access to any of Google’s mobile-friendly services through your browser! VERY slick.
