We knew a while back that Nokia Messaging (which will likely get renamed to Messaging on Ovi, and then Ovi Messaging) would eventually support Instant Messaging protocols such as Yahoo!, Windows Live Messenger, and AIM. Today, the first step is available for lucky owners of the Nokia E75 from the Beta Labs. Nokia Messaging for E75 now includes an IM section, though currently it only connects to Yahoo! and Ovi Chat – other networks are reportedly coming soon.
Through the single screenshot, we can see that the networks are shown in a carousel along the top of the screen, similar to the Ovi Store interface, and that you can see your buddy’s status and whatnot. Unfortunately, while this is all quite exciting, the joy subsides quickly when you get to the download page and see that it’s only a java app.
You can get more information about this for the E75 here. If you don’t have an E75, you can snag one from Amazon for $450 in either black or red.
