One of the native applications that we included in The Guru’s Ultimate Guide To Twitter On S60 was TweetS60. Doing so was likely a bit unfair, because at the time, it was in closed beta, and not available for you to download. That’s changed today, as Ravensoft (who brought us Battery Extender) has launched a public beta of TweetS60, their freeware Twitter client for Symbian-powered smartphones.
TweetS60 is available for both S60 3rd Edition and S60 5th Edition smartphones, which should mean whatever device you have is supported. TweetS60 is freeware (though a premium version with more features has been talked about, as well), and allows you to login to a single account. You can use all the popular Twitter features, including ReTweets, @replies, and following links, easily within the application.
Another really cool feature is the ability to share links – on a phone, this might seem like an exercise in frustration, but TweetS60 has smartly allowed you to pull in your phone’s bookmarks. So, to share a link from the web browser, simply open the page, save it as a bookmark, and then switch to TweetS60 and use that bookmark. It’s a bit wonky, but it works, which is all that matters.
You can also set TweetS60 to automatically connect to either 3G or WiFi networks, with priorities set within the application. While TweetS60 doesn’t have quite the feature set that Gravity or Twittix have, it’s free, and has sufficient features for the casual Twitterer. You can download TweetS60 here.
