Our friend Matthew Miller over at Nokia Experts has been putting together some really awesome coverage of the AT&T E71x. This is an important phone for American Symbian/Nokia fans because AT&T is actually pushing it with advertising and such. In any case, while Matthew has been successful in getting Ovi Maps to run on the Nokia E71x, the phone comes with AT&T’s branded version of Telenav, called AT&T Navigator.
I have used Telenav on a number of phones that I’ve reviewed for MobileBurn.com, and am surprised at how nice the software really is. While I personally like Ovi Maps, I’m annoyed at the lack of North American-centric features, such as traffic support and the like. Telenav has these, along with other location-based information, such as the ability to quickly locate the cheapest gas within a specified radius.
In any case, if you’re the lucky owner of an AT&T-branded Nokia E71x, then you can swing by Nokia Experts to enter a contest, where you can win a year of service (contest ends July 19th, so hurry!). Not a bad deal, for sure. If you’re an E71x owner, you should be reading Nokia Experts, anyways. In fact, Matt’s just put together a starter guide for the E71x.
