Today, AT&T released a new free application called SocialNet, which was built by iSkoot. SocialNet provides access to Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, in a carousel view. The application can be downloaded from the AT&T MediaMall, which is likely the only time you’ll ever go there. Currently, the application is only available to branded handsets, such as the E71x and the Nokia Surge.
The program makes it possible for users to communicate among their social networks and track events in real time, as well as get live news feeds from nearly 3 dozen sources. You can also login to your Twitter account to see tweets, replies, and your Facebook to see and set your status update. On most phones, you can also get notified of new updates, even when the application is closed.

Here’s a video of the app in action on the LG Neon (not a Symbian-powered phone)

It is currently unclear whether the application will use your data connection, or if it taps into your messaging plan, as well. You can download the application for free from the AT&T MediaMall, and we’ll try to get ahold of the installer, and update this post if/when we can. If you have the Nokia E71x or the Surge, please download the app and try to store it on your device, so you can email us the installer (or post it somewhere and send us the link).
Update: You can download the .jad file here, if you’d like to try it on your unbranded phone. I was not able to install it on my 5800 XpressMusic.
