N-gage is available for the N97 via the SW update. If you launch it then it will ask for a connection to connect to check.
N-gage 1.30 should be listed there along with the c:phone memory update (Important to install before installing N-gage) along with updates for other software.

I too wish they could offer it as a download on the website myself as I like to keep files my computers for backup purposes.
Having said that I do believe that while the N-gage application on the N97 works, it doesn’t work too optimally.

I’m still waiting to get N-Gage on my N97. Wish they’d sort it out. Why can’t they just add the file to the download section of teh website????

I know exactly what you mean, and having bought 21 of the 42 games out there transfer of licenses will be a lot of hassle.

The admin at the N-gage forums are very helpful and if you talk to Congested over there I’m sure he will help you.

I know I’m going to since I plan on playing games on my N97 (moving licenses from my N82)

Regarding hardware I’m afraid the time still hasn’t come yet. (more gone a little backwards).
There is differences when playing
N-gage on N95 vs N82 vs N97 in 3D quality so to say it doesn’t support 3D is not quite right.
(Based on own experience and eyes)
That said I’m not a 3D expert so I might be totally off.

Nokia still hasn’t solved the license transfer issue for NGage game owners who buy a new Symbian handset, despite the fact that ALL my other Symbian app vendors (even tiny ones) can transfer licenses simply and easily. So, I’ve followed through and will NEVER buy an N-Gage game again since I refuse to jump through hoops each time I buy a new phone.

Every time I see the N-Gage icon with my purchased games I cannoyt play, it reminds me that Nokia’s hardware prowess is married to inept software and services. As soon as another vendor provides an equivalent/superior hardware product to my N82, I’ll jump in a heartbeat. :(

Hehe, I noticed that too.
While some of them are too ambitious they could come out real, in the case of Oblivion there will never be a full 3D that looks like the PC version out on N-gage.

At least not for a while. That is due to the fact that N-gage is starting to be rolled out on handsets that
1. Don’t have the 3D chip
2. To handsets where RAM is a bit limited.

Having “full / real” 3D like on a PC is not doable what so ever.

And of course if you use your votes wisely you’ll always end up on voting for things that really is meaningful.
