The FCC is one of my favorite places to find out what phones are on their way to the U.S. market. Today’s golden nugget, courtesy of Engadget Mobile, is none other than the Nokia E72. As you may know, the E72 is an update to the E71, though it fixes nearly all the problems faced by the E71. The E72 features a new optical mouse, as well as a beefed up 5 megapixel camera and a redesigned QWERTY keyboard.
What’s even better is that the version found on the FCC’s approval list is the U.S. 3G variant, with tri-band 3G (850/1900/2100MHz) support for AT&T’s 3G network. Definitely a winner, and with AT&T currently carrying the E71x, there’s a slim chance that AT&T hopefuls could see this one with a subsidy sometime in the future.
You can peruse the FCC documentation for yourself here, if so inclined.
Also, don’t forget that we have a full gallery of photos of the E72 side-by-side with the E71, as well as some disassembly photos.
