When Nokia announced the Surge, for AT&T recently, most of the mobile fans cringed at such a horrendously designed device. However, it has decent specs, and a great price, so whatever. Well, Nokia decided to punish its European fans with this hideous device, as well, calling it the 6760 Slide. This unbranded variant of the Surge is planned to be available in Europe during Q3, priced at EUR199, which is definitely affordable.
Interestingly enough, the press release for the Nokia 6760 Slide lists quick access to Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, which suggests we might finally see some decent apps for these social networking sites, though my guess is just bookmarks in the browser. They also mention that ‘Instant Messaging no longer needs to be confined to a computer as the Nokia 6760 slide also offers access to instant messaging solutions from Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger.‘ Could it be that Nokia has finally put forth some effort in making IM possible from its Symbian-powered smartphones out of the box, instead of relying on that worthless Wireless Village app?
In any case, you can get more info about the 6760 Slide here.
