Telexy Networks has had some hard times, specifically back when Nokia laid claim to its flagship application (and has yet to do anything with it, as far as I know). Fortunately for the Symbian community, the folks at Telexy aren’t easily knocked, and have announced their upcoming lineup of connection-oriented applications, along with a special deal for S60 5th Edition users.
For starters, Telexy now has 5 new applications, with a 6th to follow shortly. SymNAS allows you to set your phone up as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) so that you can easily browse your phone’s drives and folders with any computer on your network. SymVPN is a PPTP VPN client for your phone, allowing you to connect to secure networks easily. SymSync allows you to synchronize specific files and folders over your local network, with the ability to schedule the synchronization to take place automatically. SymPlayer is a streaming music application that allows you to connect to network-shared MP3 collections and play them back on your phone, which is definitely sweet. SymNC, also called Telexy Network Commander, is a collection of all of these apps, plus Telexy Network File Browser, in a single integrated package.
They also have SymRDP coming soon. This will be a remote desktop protocol client that allows you to work on your computer directly from your phone, using remote desktop.
There are free 2-week trials available for each of these applications, so that you can check them out before you purchase them, to make sure they do what you want. Also, if you’re the proud owner of an S60 5th Edition smartphone, such as the Samsung i8910 OmniaHD, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, or Nokia N97, if you purchase SymNC now, you’ll get a free upgrade when SymRDP is available!
