The voice recorder on Symbian-powered smartphones is quite handy – you can quickly record a voice note, wherever you are, and then listen to it later. Unfortunately, these notes are saved to your phone and don’t get transferred with your photos or PIM information, which means they can easily be forgotten, which defeats the entire purpose of recording them in the first place. Our friends at SBSH realized this, and thus, we have VoiceQ.
VoiceQ is a small utility that records your voice notes, saves them to your phone, and then also automatically emails them to a pre-configured email address. You can designate where the local copy gets stored – I have mine set to a folder on my memory card, for instance, and you can choose the email address that it’s sent to.
Currently, VoiceQ is only able to use the built-in email client on your phone – which means on my trusty N79, I had to setup my Gmail IMAP account in the horrendous default email app. It’s not a huge ordeal – just disable the auto-checking, and then you’re still able to send out, but I only receive new messages in Nokia Messaging, which is what I want. The SBSH team is working to enable VoiceQ to use 3rd party email clients, such as Nokia Messaging, though, so stay tuned for updates on that.
You can download VoiceQ directly from the Symbian-Guru Store, where we allow you to re-download your purchased applications with ease, and offer a friendly refund system, as well. Fortunately, there is a free 2-week trial of VoiceQ, so that you can make sure it works for you before you purchase it.
Also, since we know you love free stuff, we also have 5 free license keys to give away! All you need to do is register as a forum member here, and then leave a comment on this post, letting us know what phone you’ll use it on, and why you think VoiceQ is useful! It’s that easy. Contest is open until Sunday at 5pm CST, and we’ll contact the winners shortly after that.
