Voxbone announced on June 22nd that the company was chosen by Nimbuzz as a provider for local access numbers. Nimbuzz is a mobile messenger application which allows you to get access to the most popular services such as GTalk, MSN Messenger, AIM, Facebook and Twitter in addition to letting you perform VOIP calls with services like Gizmo and Vyke just to name a few. This collaboration means that Nimbuzz users will be able to use VOIP services as usual even without WiFi or 3G coverage. This is done by first dialing a local access number which routes the call through Internet.
Apparently Nimbuzz users are still able to take advantage of Nimbuzz’ free services, however local charges for connecting the call may still apply according to the announcement. You can read more about the announcement here.
For other instant messaging applications you can take a look at Fring, EQO or Palringo. I’ll be watching this space as Nimbuzz is currently my favourite all-in-one IM client on my handset. What is yours and do you think that this collaboration will be of benefit for Nimbuzz users?
