We previously tipped you about how to remove the Boingo access point on the N97. For those who don’t Boingo it is a company that provides you with WiFi access on different hotspots around the world. While other such services limits themselves to one platform, with Boingo you can get access to those hotspots via your laptop or your handset running Symbian or Android, with one single account.
TheGuru himself is particularly fond of Boingo. (ed. I’m using it right now, and will be using it on my trip to Nokia World!)
Seeing that Boingo is already included in handsets such as the N97 (and probably upcoming handsets), the joint between Boingo and Symbian Foundation can prove to be a good one. It also means that Boingo will have the right to license the Symbian Foundation platform, royalty free as well as the source code, get to govern the Foundation and other exclusive deals such as marketing and branding campaigns
According to David Wood, Catalyst At Symbian Foundation,
“Symbian is pleased to welcome Boingo as the latest member of the fast-growing Symbian Foundation. Boingo is widely recognised as a leading enabler of mobile WiFi access. We look forward to seeing their innovative use of Symbian platform assets, and to their participation in community activities.”
I’m seriously considering to sign up with Boingo again and give them a second try.
(My first try with a trial wasn’t too successful). What do you think of this?
