N-Gage Client Updated For Selected Phones

Since the release of the N-Gage client for the N97 with version number 1.30(1541), the client for S60 3rd Edition phones have been updated and jumped to version number 1.40(1557). Also the installation file size has increased by 1MB.

If you have N-Gage previously installed, you can go to the showroom and then update, a notification will pop up and ask you to install the new version. You can also use the update function inside the N-Gage application to get the update.

Should you choose do decide to download the N-Gage application manually yourself you can head over to N-Gage download

There are two new notable changes in this new version – upon launch you are met with a welcome screen. Games you have previously installed will show up as being pre-installed and ready to be played.

Seems like they are trying to pull the marketing a bit further as many new handsets comes with an activation key for one free game. The Guru himself has officially quit the N-gage and I’m still holding though quite frustrated about the licensing system which has been weak since initial start.

    I know what you mean, I swap phones often and having my games tied down to a IMEI number instead of a NGage account is a real bummer. Why can’t Nokia do the right thing from time to time ?

    How can they go and make the application file even bigger and by another 1MB. I installed v1.30 on my N97 and watched my C: dricve shrink before my very eyes. Not the kind of magic trick I want to see. Now they make the app even bigger. Please say something will be sorted before we get a N97 update. Not even as ifmany/if any of teh games really use the touch interface on the N97 anyway.

    lol a 600euro (if not more) device like the n97 with 32gb of external memory which has a lack of internal memory. what a nice flagship device haha!!! well done nokia!!! lol chinese cheap devices put more mb in their internal memory than nokia. is there any change log available? thanks

    Just to clarify.
    Version 1.30 is for N97 whereas this new update is for S60 3rd Edition phones such as N95, N82, N96.
    This version is the new version 1.40 and will not be compatible with the N97.

    No other visible changes is available except for the welcome screen and the “pre-installed” in the home screen. Probably just some bugfixes and measures to counter “modified” games.

    This can be an indicator though as a new version of N-gage usually means that new games are coming out which requires the updated N-gage version to work.
