While AT&T has just released the Nokia 6790 Surge here in the U.S., there is word that the QWERTY-equipped smartphone could be headed North, to Canada, shortly. Rogers Wireless, one of the major Canadian carriers, is believed to be launching the phone any day now. The Surge, if you recall, is one of the ugliest phones that Nokia has ever built, with a small 2.4-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels) resolution display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2 megapixel camera, and built-in GPS receiver.
Supposedly, Rogers will be offering the phone for CAD89.99 on a 3-year contract (are you for real?), or CAD279.99 at full retail. We are expecting the AT&T variant for review in the next few days, and will be giving it a good once-over, so stay tuned to the site.
