I’ve just received the Nokia 6790 Surge for AT&T for review, and thought you may like to see what comes in the box. Unfortunately, the answer is precious little. Sure, you get the phone, that beautiful BP-4L 1500mAh battery, but, well, that’s about it. There is no microSD included, nor is there a USB cord or headphones. The typical paperwork we’re used to seeing with Nokia’s smartphones - literature on N-Gage, Ovi, and all that is notably missing, replaced with a few pamplets on AT&T’s various services.
Here’s the unboxing video:

After booting up the phone, installing our Symbian-Guru theme, Antony Pranata’s Screenshot app, and Handy Taskman, I took a screenshot that really impressed me, right off the bat. You can see below, the phone, even with AT&T’s massive amount of branding, still manages a whopping 117MB of internal storage free, and a mind-numbing 78MB of free RAM! This dwarfs even Nokia’s current flagship, the N97, by quite a bit, and instantly lifts the Nokia 6790 Surge’s rating, in my book.
I’ll be doing a full review of this Symbian-powered smartphone over the next few days, including a comparison against the E71′s QWERTY keyboard. If you have any specific questions that you would like to see answered, please leave them in the comments, and I’ll make sure they get answered. Before you ask any specifications questions, please refer to our announcement post, which lists out the full specs list.
