If you’re reading this in an RSS reader, you really do need to head on over to the full site to really see what we’re talking about. In celebration of the launch of Maemo-Guru.com, as well as in anticipation of Nokia World 2009, we decided it was high-time that Symbian-Guru.com got a bit of a visual facelift. This new theme is much cleaner, and less cluttered than the previous one, and I think it will serve us well going in the future.
For starters, the new category bar beneath the header features drop-down menus, which will make it easy for you quickly access all your favorite Symbian-Guru posts! As of now, you can hover over the Events link to quickly get to all of our Nokia World 2009 coverage (which obviously isn’t much, yet), but we’ll add more functionality to this new bar over time.
Also, you’ll notice there are now 9 additional stories shown right here on the front page – and there are less graphics – which means if you’re loading the full desktop homepage up on your phone, it loads quicker and looks a bit nicer. The mobile-friendly version is still available, as well, so don’t worry there.
The new site also contains lots of backend improvements, which will make it easier for us to create posts for you, which means you can expect higher-quality articles, as we won’t have to spend as much time setting them up. With the previous theme, properly setting up a post required Photoshop and an FTP client – both of which are not required with our new theme.
There are still a few bugs here and there that I’ll be working on, but I hope you’ll agree this is a great new facelift for Symbian-Guru.com!
