Amazon.com is usually one of the best places to get a great deal on the latest unlocked Symbian-powered smartphones, and today, they’ve dropped the price of the Nokia N97 NAM down to a reasonable $529.99, with free Super Saver shipping! The Nokia N97 features that massive 3.5-inch nHD (360×640 pixels) resolution touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 32GB of internal storage, and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash.
While I panned the device in my review previously, the latest v12 firmware reportedly solved many of the stability issues that I faced, and there is a v20 firmware expected in the next few weeks that will add kinetic scrolling and a host of other exciting features. Also, after attending Nokia World 2009, it’s clear that the N97 and other touchscreen devices will soon be flooded with a host of interesting applications, including some really intriguing location-based ones.
Do you think the N97 should get another chance? Personally, at $530, I think s0. My biggest complaints with the device were all firmware-related. The hardware was phenomenal, in my opinion.
