Nokia 5800 XpressMusic v31.2.008 Firmware Now Available

There have been rumors of another firmware update for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic for a few weeks, but today, it’s finally available through the Nokia Software Update tool. Firmware v31.2.008 is now available for the 5800 XpressMusic, though at this time, it’s unclear of what updates are added with this firmware. 93tid at NokiaUsers.net has a long list of product codes that are showing availability, though as you can see here, I was also able to download the new firmware for my 5800 XpressMusic NAM, RM-428.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has UDP (User Data Preservation), so you should be able to apply the new firmware without having to reset your phone. However, it’s still recommended that you backup any critical information, just in case. We’ll update this post with any changes that we find shortly.

UPDATE: there do not seem to be any significant changes in this firmware, unfortunately. It does not include kinetic scrolling, nor does it include the newer homescreen layout. It also did not fix the homescreen email notification for Nokia Messaging, unfortunately. It seems as though this was a maintenance release, which is unfortunate. It does, actually, include the new Ovi Maps 3.0 interface, which was revealed at Nokia World 2009.

    im trying to but it keeps on saying Software Update Failed. For optimum connectivity your USB cable should be connected directly to the PC and viaUSB hub,,,,etc

    any ideas guys? if i change the product code back to its original then it says no updates found.. :(

    Hi, i have NAM product code 0577454, and NokiaUSA website still shows 21.2.025 as the latest FW. I haven't checked using PC suite or Ovi suite yet. Also Andelson said, he updated using FOTA, does anyone know, what are the server settings for server profile for FOTA update for my NAM model. I am using AT&T network.
  • Hey all - I've tried verifying my product code with NSS on 2 different computers (one with PC Suite installed and one without) and haven't had any luck, which makes me think I never changed it on my NAM unit, which means it's coming up for product code 0577454. If you haven't already, try NSU with that product code - perhaps the Nokia site simply isn't updated yet?

    Nope. Not available for NAM. I tried both NSU and FOTA and both still report v21.2.025 as the latest.

    Whoever wrote this article must have changed his product code.

    nokia messaging on home screen works now. You need to activate on homesceen settings. Only 1 of yoyr addresses though.

    I have no update yet, but I wonder if its worthwhile to change my product code just for the homescreen nokia messaging notifications.
  • I found the settings for the homescreen email, as those were present in firmware v30 for me. Unfortunately, randomly one day, the email stopped appearing. The entry on my homescreen is still there, but is simply a blank line.

    i had check the lastest firmware in ota n v 31.2.008 is already but when i update into my 5800 the result of update was still v 21 n i check the code of 5800 ( code : 0574676 ) the seaching said that my code 0574676 is not avalaible to update the latest firmware v 31. so what i suppost to do?? why nokia not give all code of 5800 can update the lastest firmware v 31, why have to specific code phone n country that only can update that firmware?? is anybody can help me? how i can update my code 574676 with RM - 356 so i can update that v 31. help me please... thanks anyway..

    @Suhail Nope...It's still the same firmware as yours...Rumored that Nokia Care centers has already got the new firmware. Please check with your nearest Nokia care center. And let people know here too...Thanks.

    First of all we have paid the premium price for 5800 and Nokia is quietly sidelining its 5800 users by not giving them the new innovations on s60,5th edition OS.

    waiting for maybe the rumoured v31 which is this i dont see it yet im running the step bk v31 and when i load a text or go to create one it freezes for a second its annoying hope this maintenence firmware fixes these bugs or i will be forced to go bk to trusty v21 were my fone was fast sleek and had no issues....
