    sorry, are you saying that ALL these games are native Symbian AND written for hardware graphics acceleration? I simply don’t believe it…

  • God

    Sorry, this isn’t my lucky day because I found that same section weeks ago.

    Since Gameloft seems to refer to all native symbian games as HD, Is it Graphics with Hardware acceleration or is it just with good graphics ?

  • Too Late

    These games have been available for quite a while now on gameloft’s website (I’m referring to the HD titles )

    Woot for OpenGL ES 2.0!!! Thanks for the heads up Rita. I have a feeling that I will be wasting hours of my life tomorrow trying out these games.

    BTW, for everyone who is interested in taking advantage of the hardware graphics acceleration in their i8910′s, (not quite full advantage, but close) I highly recommend the now years-old port of Quake 3 Arena. I’m not entirely sure of the developer’s name (hinkka?) but here is a link to his site with all necessary download links:

    http://koti.mbnet.fi/hinkka/index.html

    This port was designed with the N95 8GB in mind. I believe it was written to take advantage of the OpenGL ES 1.1 support in the OMAP 2420′s Power VR MBX graphics chip. The i8910 and Satio both use OMAP 3430′s with Power VR SGX, with support for Open GL ES 2.0. Anyway, what I’m getting at is that even though this was written for a 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 phone, it is fully compatible with the i8910, and I would be surprised if it didn’t work perfectly with the Satio as well. It does absolutely require the use of a bluetooth mouse in order to use the game’s menus and navigate your character. However, as long as you remap the volume up key to “walk forward” and the volume down key to “backstep” you will not need a bluetooth keyboard. If anyone has any questions about getting this port working just email me, or you know, the guy who actually wrote it :)

    Yes, this HD games simply wont run on non graphic-accelerated S60 5th Edition phones. I tried Asphalt 4 HD on my N97, not supported.

    @Too Late and @God,
    Yes I do realize they have been there for a long time, as I wrote that I “just noticed” it and not that they just released them. Add that it hasn’t been reported on any Symbian blog so far ;) plus as you see, a couple of commenters here didn’t know about them, so I suppose I did a good job writing this.

  • Rohan

    Thats awesome. Can you try find some screenshots of the games Rita ?

  • http://iUnlock.com adam@iunlock

    Just to let everyone know, when you purchase any of these games and download them, you are not downloading the .sis file. It’s an .exe that you must install on a WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM. Once you install this to your computer it prompts you to plug in the phone and opens Samsung PC Studio’s Application Installer. This was rather annoying to me, since I usually download .sis files to my MacBook, then email them to my phone. Thankfully I have an XP partition as well. If you use a Mac and do not have Bootcamp, Parallels, or some other way of booting Windows, then you cannot install these games to your phone.

    Rita, it might be a good idea to add this to your article since a lot of people don’t read the comments. Also, if anyone wants screenshots I can take some by the end of the (GMT -5) day.

    @Dotsisx sure you’ve done a good job like you always do (I like your articles a lot by the way ) just wanted to say that they were available for awhile. I just hope Gameloft release more HD Games
