Last week, we brought to you a detailed walkthrough of gReader, the dedicated Google Reader client for Symbian, developed by MojosMobile. After the article was published, we received a lot of feedback on the site as well as on Twitter, especially regarding displaying images from the news items. The feedback was forwarded to the developers and they decided to take gReader one step further by adding these new features:
- Image display: all the images in a news article are now downloaded, rescaled and displayed the moment you open it.
- Forward by Email: adding to forwarding by SMS and Twitter, there’s also now an option to send an article via email.
- Double-duty search: if you recall, gReader has a search tab that allows you to search the web news. Now, it also supports searching your subscriptions. Both results are displayed in the same tab, with the visual differenciation being the middle icon turning red instead of green.
We thought you might be bored of screenshots, so we decided to give you a 10 minute tour of the application, on video, to show you just how good it is.

This being the first time that I’ve, personally, been this incredibly involved in the development of an application, all I can say is that I’m so proud of the result achieved. In my very humble opinion, it’s the most complete and perfect Google Reader application on any mobile platform. I can now peacefully scratch that off my wishlist of applications for Symbian. Google Docs anyone?!
gReader has also received a few other improvements under the hood and it’s now a matter of hours, not days, before its official release. Edit: The application will be priced at 7.95 EUR but in order to celebrate its release, we’re giving you, Symbian-Guru readers, the exclusive chance to win 10 free licenses of gReader. All you have to do is leave a comment telling us your favorite feature of gReader, what you plan on using it for, or what is the main function that you think is missing. The contest is open until Sunday 6pm GMT, and make sure you leave a valid email address when you enter your comment so we can contact you.
