Symbian Foundation Theme Surfaces At SEE 09

5800symbianthemeWhen the Symbian Foundation unveiled its new branding campaign, I immediately thought they should have someone put together an official theme, complete with the funky images and yellow color scheme. Given that I’m not a themer, it’s not something I was able to do for myself, but it looks like someone did, after all.

Greg at SymbianFrance apparently stumbled upon this theme at SEE 09, complete with custom icons and all. It seems to be for S60v5 devices, though you’re welcome to try it out on S60v3 devices (and let us know how that works for you). I’ve got this installed on my 5800 XpressMusic now and it’s a nice refreshing look, perfect for the start of a weekend.

    Some icons are still default.

    Works fine with My N81 (s60v3.1), but icons in apps (settings, themes, messaging…) aren’t skinned, neither are 3rd party apss. looks fun though! :D. should work better with s60v3.2

    Works perfect on E65, including the custom icons on the folders for Tools, Applications, etc.. The icon for ovi store even works, which obviously doesn’t work on 5800.. Look for “Boutique” on the 5800-screenshot attached to TheGuru’s post..

    It was not a problem to install the theme on my E71 (EU-Version), but it’s not possible to activite. I see only the message “Not enough memory” (with 65MB free memory?).

    Been rockin’ this theme all weekend. I really like it. And compared to much else I have on my device, this one is quite thought-provoking everytime I see it – I get ideas for doing more/better from my device. Its pretty neat in that respect.

    hi there, I’m from Symbian,

    Symbian have fixed the link so you can now download the .sis file direct to your device.

    We did our best at Symbian to customise all the icons we could but when it comes to creating icons for specific apps it gets a bit tricky. However, the office and help icons should appear as customised.

    Good to hear the theme is going down well. We thought it was a good way to showcase the Symbian World and create something cool for phones at the same time.
