I used to play those games on my N95... and they're ugly compared to the App Store games. Not including the GPU on newer phones was a huge mistake, besides making Ngage suck.

Sascha, I absolutely agree with you on the quality of GameLoft's titles, regardless of phone platform. You are also correct that it doesn't make too much business sense for GameLoft to build games that are only compatible with one model from one manufacturer.

However, it would be more accurate to say that they're writing for one OS on one chipset: native Symbian running on a Texas instruments OMAP 3430. The i8910 was the first Symbian phone to utilize the OMAP 3430, but its not the only one. The Satio runs an OMAP 3430, and if any of those rumors about the 720p recording Sony Ericsson "Kakura" turn out to be true, than that phone will most likely also be running the same processor with an equal amount of RAM. I would expect that the majority of these games would work on all S60 5th Edition phones on this platform. It's true that no matter how many high-end S60 5th Edition devices Samsung and SE debut in the near future, they will never match the volume of Nokia's offerings which run on older silicon. So any more "HD Games" that GameLoft releases for the most graphics-capable Symbian phones cannot be sold to the majority of Symbian customers. But at least there will be something available for those of us who are wiling to pay for truly impressive titles. I'm certain that if Nokia had released even a couple of games written to take advantage of the graphics capabilities of the N95, I wouldn't have abandoned N-Gage so quickly.

Thanks Rita, I'm glad to help :)

Ha, i just published a post regarding the quality of Gameloft Games, though on iPhone. What Gameloft pulls out of the mobile devices is simply great. But they did always, didn´t they? We just need to remember the Asphalt series on the first N-Gage. It is still one of the best mobile racing games. That they publish HD Games for just one device does not seem too clver (economy wise) as i don´t believe that the Samsung i8910 sells that well, but they clearly demonstrate who is the king of the ring. I really hope they never stop making games.
