I also have E52, but in mine light leaks only in 2 places. I find irritating too small buttons-I have small hands but even for me they’re far too small. I can’t imgine writing an email on this phone… writing sms is so uncomfortable, how am I suppose to write sth longer?? Have no idea :) But I still like my phone.

Glad I found this..got my e52 yesterday (India) and the leaks freaked me out.
The one below the Home key's really unacceptable..can anything be done about it (write to Co, etc)?
Great review! One thing that really bugs me is how the T9 on the e52 seems to have been made for another world (I got a 2GB card!).

E52 = rubbish

Not an e51 replacement the build quality is appalling if nokia continue to make phones this bad they'll go bust!

Thanks Rita. I just found another weird bug today.

I don't keep my SMS files for very long (usually only a day or two), so my Inbox and Sent folders are often empty, like they were about 1 hour ago ...... or so I thought.

When I sent an SMS to a friend from my handset, I can only see one item in my Sent Folder, as expected. However, when I clicked on that SMS to check my message, I noticed the top of the screen showed 1/3 messages! When I scrolled to the right, I saw the last two emails I sent from my handset.

In other words, the Sent folder only displays SMS sent, but not Emails sent UNLESS you firstly open one of the SMS. Is that weird or what? Maybe my handset is the CIA version!

Ouch, never paid attention to this point. I used to turn off autorotation, as I hate how it sometimes happens when I don't want it to, but given the surreal amount of devices I review / try / own, and how many times I reset them, I eventually had to accept the fact that autorotation is here to stay and adapted. So I never noticed that error.

Hi Rita,

I agree the light leaks are annoying, but there's one thing even more annoying for me, but I don't know if it's an E52 issue or an FP2 issue.

I never want to use my E52 in landscape mode, as I prefer portrait mode for everything, including emails, so I turn the Sensor off. However, when I do, I'm forced to use the image viewer in landscape mode! This is crazy! If I turn the sensor on, I can use the image viewer in two modes, but then I've got to put up with the screen changing orientation each time I move one way or another.

If you know the right people in Nokia, please ask them to correct this anomaly with a bug fix.

Dear Dotsisx!
In spite of your warnings I bought the E52 just before Christmas. It was not so easy to get one here in Germany with a black keypad, but Steve Litchfield “told us” to wait for it – and he is right.
I strongly agree with you, the build quality of the E52 is embarrassing for E-Series. I bought it, 'cause I was sick of the E51 battery, but the E52 lacks a lot of things. The menu-keys are too small, the whole keypad is much behind the one of the E51 and the display is larger but with the same resolution. This makes some small symbols blurred. Does anyone remember the perfect display of the E60? It has a higher resolution and is really admirable.
So, Nokia: wake up! Give us a candybar worth to bear the “E” in its name – and worth to give us our money. And btw: yes, we are willing to pay a lot of money for a real, Psion-like Communicator. This is not only a hardware-thing, we need a Calendar and a Contact-Application for business-use, not for fun.

yeah sure i am so intimidated by your reply that i would really think of taking time off…

anyways not u or anyone will force me not to read this great site as i am a regular here and a fan of “TheGuru” but the last time i checked we are in a free world and i am entitled to my opinion whether u like it or not.

The build of the e52 is bad and its highlighted either in this article or many places on the net and thats a fact that we cannot argue about… but the problem is that the author of this article cannot accept someone questioning her information and the only real and convincing answer was already presented by “The Guru” and that would have been enough and ended all debates but she preferred to attack or jump into defensive mode as if she knew that she was wrong somewhere…
