Our good friends at Waze have just opened the service up to everywhere in the world. The social GPS navigation service was previously limited to U.S. and Israel, but today they’ve announced that over 20 additional countries are supported, including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Trinidad and Tobago. If you don’t live in these countries, you can still download the app, setup a profile, and build your own maps, simply by driving around.
Waze is available for most popular platforms, including Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android, and iPhone. This makes it easy for you to get all of your friends on board. You launch the app whenever you drive around, to create and update maps as you go. You can also use the application to report traffic, cops running radar, or anything else that other drivers around you should know about, which is what makes Waze so cool.
I know several of you wanted to try it out, so now you can. Head on over to http://world.waze.com to get started.
If you need a dashboard mount to hold your phone while you drive, check out this one from Bracketron. I’ve used it for over a year, and it fits every single phone I’ve ever tried to put in there. The little feet on the bottom swivel, too, so you can access the charging port easily.
