If you’re a Symbian user (and odds are, if you read Symbian-Guru, you are a Symbian user), you’ll be pleased to know that there are new versions of some of the most popular Symbian applications on the planet, ready for you to download and install!
First up, Google Maps Mobile has been updated to v3.3.1 – this version includes various bugfixes and whatnot, but also seamlessly synchronizes with your desktop Google account. If you’re using Google Maps on your desktop computer and you ‘star’ a location, it will show up as ‘starred’ in the mobile version of Google Maps, too! This is in addition to the previously added features, including layers, Latitude, and more. Unfortunately, Google Maps Mobile will not prompt for the update, so direct your mobile browser to http://www.google.com/gmm to get the goods.
Second, there is a new version of the mobile YouTube application floating around and while it runs great on the Nokia N97, it doesn’t seem to add any additional features. You can download this new version from our friends at Nokialino.it.
Last in our list is the Ovi Store, which has been updated to v1.05 (436). There’s not really any new features, but it does seem a bit faster on my N97, so it’s worth the download. If you’ve already got the Ovi Store installed on your phone, it should prompt you to automatically download and install the update. If not, hit up store.Ovi.com from your phone.
