The 5800 was the first mainstream handset from Nokia featuring a touch interface and an easy to use 3,2 inch screen with 640 x 360 resolution.
A big screen means that you can use the screen to show off pictures and videos easily. Another thing you can use the screen to do is to navigate in Ovi Maps.
The anticipated 5800 Navigation Edition is now landing in the US market and the differentiators in this edition are a lifetime navigation license for Ovi Maps and a car holder included in the sales package. With this, you are ready to start using the 5800 for navigation right away.
The handset is now retailing for $299 where you can get a $50 Visa prepaid gift card from Nokia when purchasing the device by activating an account with Ovi Store.
Nokia have had different variants of the N-series phones with “music editions” and now the initial music focused phone 5800 gets a navigation edition. I find it rather amusing if not slightly confusing with this rebranding of their products. Do you find this rebranding a good or a bad thing?
