The eagle-eyed team at AllAboutSymbian have spotted new firmware updates for both the Nokia N85 and 5530. There was also news recently that the N79 received a firmware update, along with the N96. Now if only the 5800 XpressMusic and N97 could get new firmwares, I’d be a happy camper.
The Nokia N85 was updated to v31.002, which can be downloaded over the air (simply type *#0000# from the standby screen to get the update). There’s no official changelog at the moment, and the N85 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), but it’s recommended that you backup any critical information before applying the update, just to be safe.
The 5530 was updated to v20.0.080, and again, there’s no official changelog available at the moment. This one is available through Nokia’s Software Update tool, which you’ll need to have a Windows computer to use. The 5530 also has UDP, but again, backup anything important, just in case.
The Nokia N79, one of my favorite phones ever, was updated to v31.002 back in November, but we thought we’d remind you anyways. The Nokia N96, which I’m sure no one carries anymore, has also been updated to v30.101, available through NSU.
This puts the 5800 XpressMusic and N97 next in line for some firmware update love, so let’s have it, Nokia.
