At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show last month, Nokia revealed an upcoming game dubbed Ovi Maps Racing. The graphics are great (it’s put together by Red Lynx, the folks behind Reset Generation) but the really cool part of Ovi Maps Racing is the track creation feature.
Using the maps from Ovi Maps, you can generate a custom racing track from the streets in your neighborhood! There are a number of preset locations, if you’re feeling lazy, but you can also let the application determine your current location so you can fly through your own backyard. Definitely a really cool idea, and the implementation isn’t bad, either.
You can also invite your friends to race these tracks with you or you can race your own ghost, to improve your abilities. Ovi Maps Racing is also free, available for touchscreen smartphones like the N97 Mini or X6 in the Ovi Store. Let’s hope this title makes its way to non-touchscreen phones soon.
