When the Nokia N8 was officially unveiled, many of us were surprised to see that its 1200mAh battery was listed as being non-user-replaceable. The only other phone I can think of that has a non-user-replaceable battery is the iPhone, and that’s a ‘feature’ that I know many people find frustrating. We didn’t think Nokia was really silly enough to completely seal off the battery, and as luck would have it, we were right.
Tech blog ArabNokia.net has discovered that what Nokia really meant was that the Nokia N8′s battery is not *easily* user-removed. All you need is a tiny Philips head screwdriver to remove two small screws on either side of the phone. The endcap then pops off and the Nokia N8′s battery easily slides out. It’s not a process I would want to complete often, or while on the run, but I’m pleased to know that it’s really quite a simple process, should the need arise.
We’re anxiously awaiting a review unit of the Nokia N8 so that we can figure out other things we have in question. What parts of the phone intrigue you the most?
