If you’ve ever been travelling and decided to stop for the night without planning ahead, then you already know that most travel sites look horrid on your phone – for whatever reason, most of the big-name travel sites haven’t put alot of thought into their mobile-friendly versions, or hadn’t 6-7 months ago when I tried to use them last.
Today, Nokia announced a new partnership with Expedia to bring hotel booking abilities to Ovi Maps v3.04. The new feature should automatically show up in your Ovi Maps main screen, and lets users in the UK and United States search for and book local hotels from directly within the mapping application.
As you can see from the screenshot, you can easily see the name of the hotel, its distance from your location, and even get a star rating and nightly rate – not bad from a cell phone, I say. When you touch the hotel entry, you can read a description of the location, as well as see the full address and phone number. Quite impressive, to say the least.
Is this something you would use? Have you found any other solutions that work this well?
